First off I want to thank Compassion International for giving me this amazing opportunity...
This picture I believe fits his perfectly because do you see how the light outlines the shadows of the singers on the stage? Think of it like this the impact you can make on someones life is unbelievable. But, it depends on the angle you take as you shine your light on someone. You can choose to shine from the top and show no shadow from them, you can only see that you are shinning a light. The bottom which shows something but you aren't able to identify what it is, or you could choose to shine from the side where you see everything. As Christians you don't need someone that is going to stand over you and breath down your neck or pressure you. You don't need someone who is going to step under you and play the victim. You need someone who will step beside of you and help you, and walk with you to help you. Think about that.
Over the course of my conference this past weekend I had the opportunity to sponsor a little boy in south America. Although I have never met this little five-year-old boy I feel as if he was always there in my life. Keep in mind I have only seen a picture of this little baby boy.
But as I look on his sweet little face and see how much hope and Jesus is in his eyes, I could never imagine how anyone would be able to deny him anything. Because he deserves so much in this life and its so much more than what I can give him nor what his mother can give to him, it can all come from Jesus.
But think about it aren’t we all like him?
All searching for something that we could never on our own, so we look to human sources only to be turned down or lifted. It depends on the type of person you look to. Like that boy, if someone that didn’t see the potential, he has in life they may have never payed the money he needed to get doctor visits or clothes or anything else he needed to be who he is. Just like a student without a teacher, the leadership and guidance are missing.
As soon as the woman walking around our side of the conference room handed me that baby I knew that’s what’s going to keep me from slacking on everyday life.
We all need that. We need something to keep us going, not a motivation though. A motivation is something that is the general desire or willingness of someone to do something. A motivation isn’t something that gets you out of bed in the morning. What gets you out of bed in the morning is Jesus.
Let Jesus be the one to show you the person you need to look to that will point you to the one who created you.
Be a kid that looks to Jesus and be as grateful as that waiting boy.
