Nehemiah 5

God doesn't do last chances.

"How often must we redeem them?" ~Nehemiah 5v8

I'm so glad God never asks this. How often do people think “Oh, here we go again. Here’s something else we have to get her out of. Another problem, another change, another anything?” How would you answer those questions? You couldn’t, could you? Only God can, he’s the only, one who know the reason we go through things. He holds our tomorrows in one single hand. How great is our heavenly father that he doesn’t allow us to know? We don’t need to know. In the scripture Nehemiah is speaking of the Jewish family members they sold off and re-bought, he was angry at the fact that they didn’t understand what they were doing.

But in reality none of us does do we?

We don’t know why people die at a young age, we don’t understand how losing someone can hurt so bad, why people can’t just live forever. But God never becomes angry or mad at us, he never chooses to day, “This is the last time I help you out.” Because that’s not the God I serve. I serve a God that delights in my failures because that’s where he works best, who called me chosen, who named me saved. My God shed his blood for me, he endured overbearing pain and felt everything we feel. He never forsakes me, never leaves me, never gives up on me, never chooses anyone above me, never lies to me, never promises something that he cannot deliver. He is always right on his timing. He knows what is best for you and I.

I have always thought of the Old Testament was nothing more than some names that I couldn’t even try to sound out… never have I ever been so wrong.

Read more in the Old Testament, expand your mind and narrow your focus. God works miracles when you focus on him.
