Who is Persis?

Romans 16v12

"Give my greetings to Tyrphena and Tryphosa, the Lord's workers and to dear Persis, who has worked so hard for the Lord"

The name Persis is only mentioned once in the Bible, Paul in Romans is the only person to mention her. In Romans 16v12, Paul regards to her as "the beloved" and "the one that works hard for the Lord"

Now I choose this name to write under because that's how I want to be remembered. I want to be the one who, through everything that was going on that I worked hard for the Lord.

I read in an article about this amazing woman after I had chosen the name that she was most likely a Persian woman. In Persia, Christianity or The Way was a minority religion, so it kinda shocks me that she worked so hard that out of the women that he mentions in the verse before that he specializes her in the letter. Women in the early church were often pushed to the side because men were the head of the house, they didn't have very much voice. Some women in the Bible have not received the credit where their credit was due. So for her to be named, "the beloved" is big. Especially because she was named by the Apostle Paul. I believe that they may have been friends.

I wonder if she knew that she was going to be mentioned in a book that is world wide 2000 years later. I wonder if she was open to the idea of it. I wonder if she had children that read this book and thought, "wow there's mom." Whatever that they know that we are yet to find out, I am incredibly grateful that God choose to put Her in His book. <3
